Lover's Knot

Lover's Knot

This is a variation of the True Lover's Knot.

This knot, known by various similar names and appearing in several variations, is traditionally associated with true love.

In some regions, a man would hang a loosely tied such knot on the door of the woman he wished to marry. If it remained untouched the next day, he need not pursue her further, but if it was properly tied, he was welcome to court her.

In other areas, sailors' wedding rings were commonly adorned with such knots, symbolising that no matter how far apart they might be, the wearer would always remain connected to his beloved.
